نویسنده
چکیده
We study general mathematical framework for variation of potential energy with respect to domain deformation. It enables rigorous derivation of the integral formulas for the energy release rate in crack problems. Applying a technique of the shape sensitivity analysis, we formulate the shape derivative of potential energy as a variational problem with a parameter. Key tools of our abstract theory are a new parameter variational principle and the classical implicit function theorem in Banach spaces.

Delamination of Two-Dimensional Functionally Graded Multilayered Non-Linear Elastic Beam - an Analytical Approach
Delamination fracture of a two-dimensional functionally graded multilayered four-point bending beam that exhibits non-linear behaviour of the material is analyzed. The fracture is studied analytically in terms of the strain energy release rate. The beam under consideration has an arbitrary number of layers. Each layer has individual thickness and material properties. A delamination crack is loc...
متن کاملNumerical Determination of Delamination Onset in Laminated Symmetric DCB Specimen
In this study, a novel numerical method is proposed for determination of mode-I interlaminar fracture toughness, GIc, in multi-directional (MD) double cantilever beam (DCB) specimens using fracture properties of unidirectional DCB specimens. Two factors, β and Dc are defined to minimize the undesirable effects on strain energy release rate. β describes the difference between maximum and average...
متن کاملEnergy release rate approximation for small surface-breaking cracks using the topological derivative
The topological derivative provides the variation of a response functional when an infinitesimal hole of a particular shape is introduced at a point of the domain. In this fracture mechanics work we use the topological derivative to approximate the energy release rate field associated with a small crack at any boundary location and at any orientation. Our proposed method offers significant comp...

This paper presents a new continuum shape sensitivity method for calculating the mixed-mode stress-intensity factors of a stationary crack in two-dimensional, linear-elastic, orthotropic functionally graded materials with arbitrary geometry. The method involves the material derivative concept taken from continuum mechanics, the mutual potential energy release rate, and direct differentiation. S...

In this paper a new method to determine the fracture properties and strain energy release rate for Carbon- Polyester composite has been introduced. Fracture characteristics such as critical stress intensity factor and critical strain energy release rate for mode I, mode II and mixed mode loading were determined using Arcan type specimen. 130 layers of carbon fiber polyester woven composite wit...
